But Who Are We, Really?
Allison
Q: Bike or walk?
A: Tough call. My bike, aptly named Merritt, is a 1952 blue Schwinn cruiser with a white basket. It weighs as much as I do and squeaks like a mouse with every turn. And I love it. Exploring the city on two wheels or two legs is always the best fit for me.
Q: Mountains or beach?
A: Growing up on the East Coast, I was exposed to the wonders of the beach every summer. I find it easy to get lost in the sound of the ocean and heat of the sun. While I would choose a day at the beach over the slopes (gasps allowed), I have also fallen in love with the silent beauty of time in the mountains…with a fire.
Q: Salty or sweet?
A: My mother is Italian and makes pasta for any occasion. New episode of So You Think You Can Dance? Pasta. Good grades in school? Pasta. Tuesday? Pasta. I love pasta and I love salt. In honor of my years at the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, here is the obligatory “everything in moderation.”
Q: Paper books or tablets?
A: Paper books. No question. The smell of a library book and seeing how far along you have come in a book is something I can not pass up for technological ease.
Q: Merritt or Grace?
A: This is a trick question. We stick together like buttermilk on a billy goat’s chin (Thanks for the saying, Popsie).

Q: Bike or walk?
A: Just being outside makes me smile, taking a moment to appreciate all the nature around me, if I just stop long enough – and yes, leave the mobile at home – to look at it. Nothing beats walking in nature whether it’s one of the literally thousands of miles I’ve logged around Wash Park, or it’s a climb to the peak of one of Colorado’s 14ers (I’ve climbed 6! :)). That being said, I love riding my bike around Denver, too. It’s easy riding to downtown Denver on the Cherry Creek path and I love combining my transportation and fitness!
Q: Mountains or beach?
A: Errr, can I choose both? As a Colorado and Montana girl, the mountains are a part of who I am and I can’t imagine living without their majestic beauty nearby. The ocean is calming and refreshing in an altogether different way – one that I love visiting and could see myself living near as the only other option to my awesome mountains!
Q: Salty or sweet?
A: The minute I say “salty”, which is more of my favorite with chips & salsa as an official food group in my world, then I think of chocolate which I would never forsake…. how about salty followed by a bit of sweet?
Q: Paper books or tablets?
A: PAPER! It doesn’t stop me from reading on a tablet but I can’t resist the feel and smell of a book. There is something tactile and special about a paper book that can’t be replaced by a screen.
Q: Merritt or Grace?
A: There’s no need to decide on this one…BOTH. It’s an unstoppable combination. In our world you don’t get one without the other.
